Do you ever worry if you made the right decision yesterday or will do the wrong thing tonight or what tomorrow holds? One woman decided to set aside one day each week to worry. As difficult situations occurred, she would write them down and put them in her worry box. Then, on “Worry Wednesday” she would read them. To her amazement, most of the things had already worked out.
American poet Ellen M. Huntington Gates described God’s perfect rest for those with weary hearts in her poem “Sleep Sweet.”
Sleep sweet within this quiet room,
O thou, whoe’er thou art,
And let no mournful yesterdays
Disturb thy peaceful heart.
Nor let tomorrow mar thy rest
With dreams of coming ill:
Thy Maker is thy changeless friend,
His love surrounds thee still.
Forget thyself and all the world,
Put out each garish light:
The stars are shining overhead
Sleep sweet! Good night! Good night!
As a child of God, you can rest in the knowledge that you are surrounded by a loving Father who cares for you. The same Creator who placed each star in the sky, is watching over you.
